You know what they say about credit cards? That you’re not liable for unauthorised transactions done with your card, well, they neglect to say that you have to fight your credit card company to get those charges removed, and that’s exactly what I experienced when some shady company put a subscription fee on my credit card, I discovered it 3 months in and didn’t even realise I’d signed up for this service but its one of those hidden online freebees.

So to avoid such traps have to avoid using my credit card online, but I can’t use my debit card because the same thing could happen, so I plan to get a prepaid debit card, with prepaid debit cards, you’re more in control of the card because no company can take the money off the card unless you’ve put it on. I don’t even think they allow recurring charges at all; would be nice if they didn’t. Doing this is going to save me from constantly having to worry whether some service that I accidentally signed up to is taking money out of my account.
