To Dream Or To Die is a small record label located in Ann Arbor, MI. We're here to help the small and local artists who aren't looking for tons of money or big labels.
This blog will cover the various aspects of business we perform, how we do it, when, why, etc.
To start, we started To Dream Or To Die in March of this year, 2010. Originally, To Dream was supposed to be a small company catering primarily to small video and film artists and helping musical artists and visual artists as well. However, the start-up costs for such a company was well out of our range, so we decided to start with a record label first.
Some of the long term goals we have include:
Keeping the company small and personal. We don't have any employees right now, and we only plan on hiring at most 10. The total number of artists we plan on helping will range from 10 to 30, but absolutely no more than 45.
Satisfying our artists. Since we don't plan on expanding huge amounts, we won't need as many resources. With good marketing and distribution techniques, we will be able to offer our artists more money for their work. We're hoping to match the artists pay with what we the owners make on sales. So if we're selling a CD for $10 and we're each (oh yeah, there are two of us) making 20% then the artist will make 20%. This isn't in writing YET but it's a major consideration. And of course, the remaining 40% will go to the company where it is split and budgeted.
Satisfying our customers. No CD will ever cost more than how many tracks it has, minus one. So if a CD has 10 tracks, it won't be more than $8.99. It could even be cheaper. And we'll strive to make good deals: free shows, coupons and more- we really want customer involvement. Help make us better. You got an idea? We'll listen. You want your artwork on our site? Send it in and we'll take a look.
That's enough for this post, make sure to keep following us,
Brian
